In the post Measuring Information/ specified complexity, I said:

One way of figuring out how much information it (an object) contains is to figure out how (the simplest way) to make it.

Then you write down the procedure without wasting words/ characters and count those bits.

That will give you an idea of the minimal information it contains.

I say that because all the information that goes into making something is therefor contained by it.

And if you already have the instructions and want to measure the information?

Again just count the bits in the instructions.

For example a cake would, at a minimum, contain all the information in the recipe.

The point being, that IF it were left to direct scientific observations, evolutionism fails miserably and all that is left is wishful thinking supported by speculation.

Tried again, rolled a 5 & 2. Kept the 5. Rolled another dice, as directed by step 2 and rolled a 1. Kept the five. Rolled under 5 for 5 more tries than rolled a 5. Experiment stopped.

Intelligent Design's Claims Still Stand Unrefuted

Despite the whining to the contrary the claims made by Intelligent Design have not been refuted- living organisms, the bacterial flagellum, T3SS, blood clotting, immune system, vision system, ribosomes, ATP synthase, etc., etc., etc., are all still irreducibly complex- meaning there isn't any evidence that any amount of accumulated accidents cannot account for them.

As a matter of fact there STILL isn't any evidence that genetic accidents can accumulate in such a way as to give rise to new, useful and functional multi-part systems. All evotards can do is point to slight variations of existing systems and baldly declare-"enough time and those observed changes can produce (almost) anything"- total unscientific bullshit.

OR they point to alleged homologs as if that solves the assembly and the amount of proteins required issue (see Pallen & Matzke's diatribe).

So if bald assertions and false accusations were science then evotards would have a case.

Using Only 10% of Our Brains?

I am sure most people have heard the saying we only use 10% of our brain. Researchers chime in and tell us that we actually use all of it. Methinks they miss the point. That point being we are only using it to 10% of its actual capability, as opposed to just using 10% of the brain itself.

For example look at a gasoline powered car. It uses all of the gas in its tank (100%) but it burns it very inefficiently (much less than 100%).

But anyway does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Tennis racquet bug zapper, don't leave home without one.

Yeah I tried the passive approach of applying insect repellent, and it has its uses. I have used the invasive yard-foggers, smokers and citronella torches and candles. I had used a now defunct sonic-web. I haven't tried the mosquito magnet. And even conventional fly-swatters.

They all have their place. As does the tennis racquet bug zapper. Take this baby on walks and you can turn that walk into some revenge-filled fun. "Say hello to my little friend"- ZAP and even a snap, crackle, pop when you hit a juicy horse or deer fly.

Most times you just have to hold it out, activate it and the bugs fly right into it as they circle you to find the right landing spot.

This could be the next exercise craze- although by exercising we add more CO2 to the air, and we all know what that means? Warmer temps for more insects! And a tennis racquet bug zapper for each hand.

Just how much of the "Greenhouse Effect" is caused by human activity?

It is about 0.28%, if water vapor is taken into account-- about 5.53%, if not.

As I have said in the past I doubt the gases are the problem. SOOT is the enemy of ice and snow. Get soot on ice or snow and the ice/snow will melt when the sun-light hits it. This is a well-known and observed phenomena.

BTW- the earth has only warmed about 1 degree F over the past 100+ years. And that is well within the margin of error, which means the earth may not have warmed at all.

Nested Hierarchies and Evolution

For years I have been saying that evolution does not predict/ expect a nested hierarchy. And for as many years evotards have been saying that it does.

The difference is that I have provided the reasoning for my claims- reasoning that includes an evolutionary biologist's potential falsification of the claim that evolution predicts/ expects a nested hierarchy. That reasoning pertains to a mix of characteristics. With a nested hierarchy you cannot have that. Yet with the current theory of evolution we would expect to observe exactly that.

For example Kevin R. McCarthy (AKA OgreMKV) sez:

True, some "evolved" the ability to get citrate through their membrane so that already existing protein machinery can break it down for food for the cell.

Snake-Oil Sales- Evolutionism or Intelligent Design?

Yet Intelligent Design is based on our KNOWLEDGE of cause and effect relationships in accordance with uniformitarianism, meaning ID is based on observations and experiences and it can be objectively tested, experimentally.

OTOH evolutionism is based on some perverted and unsupportable world-view. It relies on our ignorance-> knowledge is the enemy. It is not based on observations nor experience. And there isn't any way to experimentally verify its grand claims.

When pressed for a testable hypothesis and positive evidence for their position evotards never ante up they just switch to attack mode and start spewing false accusations and bald assertions.

As evidenced around the States their position cannot even handle critical thinking and analysis. It HAS to be taken on faith-> do NOT question it.
