LIAR. Universal Common Descent does NOT predict an nested hierarchy. The existence of innumerable transitional forms would ruin any and all attempts at putting organisms in nice, neat groups. You have to be willfully ignorant to say what Harshman spews.

Harshman exposes his ignorance in the next paragraph:

"Nested hierarchy”, stated most simply, means that species can be organized into a branching tree: species at the ends of the twigs, meeting in branches, that themselves meet other branches, and finally coming down to a meeting of all branches at the root of the tree. Further, the tree represents the actual pattern of branching descent, with each joining of branches representing the common ancestor of all the species above it.

The standard system of classification in which every organism is assigned a kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. This system groups organisms into ever smaller and smaller groups (like a series of boxes within boxes, called a nested hierarchy).

Nested and non-nested hierarchies: nested hierarchies involve levels which consist of, and contain, lower levels. Non-nested hierarchies are more general in that the requirement of containment of lower levels is relaxed. For example, an army consists of a collection of soldiers and is made up of them. Thus an army is a nested hierarchy. On the other hand, the general at the top of a military command does not consist of his soldiers and so the military command is a non-nested hierarchy with regard to the soldiers in the army. Pecking orders and a food chains are also non-nested hierarchies.

So, although nested hierarchies can be depicted as branching trees, not all branching trees are a nested hierarchy. John Harshman is an ignorant ass.

Harshman needs a mechanism capable of accounting for the anatomical and physiological DIFFERENCES observed between two alleged related species like chimps and humans. No one knows of such a mechanism. No one knows of a mechanism capable of producing chimps and humans.
